Cala Bona has grown from a small Spanish fishing village into an important tourist resort on Majorca's quieter east coast. The original character of Cala Bona is still shown as the resort still has several narrow streets. The harbour is the focal point of the town of Cala Bona. The harbour has been revamped recently and now features a number of open air cafes, bars and eateries. Most of the tourist excursions from Cala Bona are available by the harbour.

Son Severa council have started to deal with this problem by removing the seaweed and hence avoiding it accumulating. Cala Bona's lovely beaches are now probably in fine fettle thanks to the regular maintenance.
